  BIOGRAPHY
Zone de Texte: After almost a decade (1992-1999) spent touring in France, building a solid fan base, releasing 3 self produced albums and disappearing at the dawn of the new millennium, WAITING FOR WORDS comes back and makes a real public appearance in 2004, lead by the 2 founding members ZeN – vocals & Inoks - keyboards.

Long time before Artic Monkeys internet approach, the duet adopts the net as main communication tool, making the band known on forums and music sites by releasing in January 2004 a free downloadable single, Above The Sky, a true pop song that opens doors to medias & radios. Thousands of copies are downloaded.

A Walk Through The Night, the 4th album of the band is released in April ’04 and critically acclaimed around the world: 11 tracks with a finely honed production exploring pop, rock, trip-hop or their new wave influences.

Waiting For Words clearly distinguish themselves from the electro-clash / synthpop scene by their "rock" background and live feeling that, even with the use of electronic instruments, seduces both “electronic” audience & medias and pop rock fans.

This release takes the band on tour in France, United Kingdom and Belgium as the promo singles get rotation on a lot of radios & web radios around the world (Above The Sky, Here Comes The Shame, Travelling Man or Cause I Do Believe)

During this tour, Waiting For Words starts getting acknowledgement of the French electro scene, both from media, audience and their peers.

The album hits Best Sellers Top 10 of US distributor A Different Drum, is nominated to the French Alternative Music Awards ’04 as “best unsigned album ” after having charted the French Alternative Charts at #1, elected as one of the best indie albums of the year by one of the major French rock web radio, Rock One, and the 2nd e-single (free download), Travelling Man hits #1 at the French Alternative Charts 3 months in a row.

After few months of extremely positive feedback from the press or radios, the band signs a worldwide digital distribution deal with the label Believe, that leads to the release of the album and the Ep Travelling Man, on all major legal downloading platforms (I-tunes, virgin, fnac, mtv, Napster, od2.com) in the US, Canada & en Europe. This deal allows the band to remain independent, unsigned for the moment while exploring some new ways of international distribution.
The album is ranked amongst the best indie sales at Virginmega.fr for 4 months.

The Tour sees the line up moving on : El Lute (electronic drums & percussions), who was already in the band in the past, joins the band first as a live guest for the tour and then as permanent member while Dune joins in the band on keyboards by the end of the tour.
Inoks, while remaining a permanent and key member of the band, takes a step back from the band front image, stops all concerts activities and focus on composing & producing.
The tour line up is completed by a guitar player, Theo, and V-Form, cult V-Jays from the techno scene, for visual projections, bringing a higher dimension to the band live performances.

Medias and audience are impressed by the band live power and their charismatic leader, ZeN, unanimously considered as a true live performer.

The band releases an on line free live album recorded at the Hayfield, in London in July ‘05. This album is downloaded more than a thousand times in just a month.

This is during this intense period that a Remix Album project arises.

First, the rising French electro band Foretaste (that Waiting For Words embarked as support act on most of their tour dates) co-produced the Travelling Man Ep and soon after some other artists such as People Theatre started remixing Waiting For Words.

ZeN who’s also a DJ on a web radio discovers everyday some talented DJs producing bootleg remixes of bands such as Depeche Mode or Duran Duran, often much more interesting than official productions.
He contacts artists from Germany (Beyond & J Flash), Russia (Island), Netherlands (M Agterhuis), France (Fatherless Child & Commuter), and some others approaches the band to remix them (Digital Dream – Canada or Mycrotonik – France).

What was only meant to be a low profile release without any special promotion for fans waiting for the new album, soon turns into a bigger project: a double album, released individually and taking the same running order as the studio album, enlarging the musical horizons of the band.
Waiting For Words remixes themselves 2 tracks announcing the improved sound of the future productions…

2006 seems highly promising as the first single (Here Comes The Shame – Empheus Remix by Mycrotonik) starts getting multiple broadcastings – the single is available as a 5 tracks Ep, including 4 non album remixes – and a Tour will kicks off on may 4th and will include a gig in Paris with the band FRANTIC as co-headliners on may 13th.

A Mix Through The Night & Here Comes The Shame Ep are released on 28.03.2006 on most of the legal platforms around the world.
The single hits #1 of best indie sales at Fnacmusic.com the week of its release and the new Foretaste’s remix of Travelling Man also hits the Top 6 for 3 consecutive weeks.

A CD Version will hit stores in May, taking the best of the 2 volumes on one CD.
For the first time, a band’s release will be available in 4 of the major French music retailer stores, FNAC (Halles, Bastille & Ternes for Paris and Valence, near Lyon)

This year will certainly install Waiting For Words as one of the key actors of the alternative scene, with a fan base growing day after day in Canada, Latin America, and Europe.

A Mix Through The Night helps the band to adjust their new style into an more clearly modern electronic pop, preserving the personality of Waiting For Words while showing the direction for the 5th album to come... unless the band keeps some more surprises
